About Us

Fort Pitt Furniture is a family owned and operated business that has been a Chicago standard for almost 40 years. Acquiring and selling to the public the finest used hotel furnishings is how patriarch Charles Zawitz started Fort Pitt back in 1970, when the Fort Pitt Hotel in Pittsburgh, PA went under renovation. As the business grew, Charles visited and liquidated some of the finest hotels throughout the US. Zawitz eventually ended up settling in Chicago in 1974, where the business has been established ever since. Four decades later, Fort Pitt still specializes in high-end hotel liquidations.

Today, Fort Pitt is one of the largest and most recognizable hotel furniture liquidators in the country, residing in their showroom/retail space of almost 100,000 sq. ft. at 1400 West 37th Street in Chicago. Recognizable hotels include the Trump International Hotel and Tower NYC, Swisshotel, Drake Hotels in NYC and Chicago, Peninsula Chicago, Palmer House Chicago, Ritz-Carlton Chicago, Four Seasons Chicago and Boston, Hyatt Hotels nationwide, St Regis NYC and the list goes on and on!

Higher end hotels tend to undergo renovations more frequently to remain competitive in today’s market, thus allowing Fort Pitt to acquire pieces of higher quality and with less wear and tear.

Visiting Fort Pitt’s showroom is like discovering a whole new world of bargains that many of Chicago’s professional interior designers have utilized for years. Open to the public seven days a week, Fort Pitt offers everyone a fantastic opportunity to acquire amazing furnishings for home or business at even more amazing prices.
